This is a deliberate discomfort project. I didn’t design this because it’s a cool gadget (though it will be used in my next short film); I designed it to force myself into controls-adjacent sensing, analog filtering, and power electronics territory. It’s a system where mistakes carry immediate consequences: if my threshold logic is weak, the system false-triggers; if my latency calculation is off by 5ms, the realism is ruined; if my transient thermal assumptions are wrong, the current pulse melts the hardware.
Current Status:
The electrical and timing logic calculations are mostly complete. I’m currently wrapping up the “Optical System & Light Modeling” documentation to accurately map forward candela against camera shutter speeds.
Next Steps: Finalizing component selections, schematic capture, and sourcing hardware to transition from mathematical modeling into physical circuit prototyping and sensor calibration.
